We have taken the alarmingly high number of around 75,000 people affected in Germany each year as an opportunity to focus intensively on the issue of "sudden cardiac death" and effective protection. We want to actively protect the health of our employees, customers and visitors, because the chance of survival with a defibrillator increases significantly from 5% to 75%.
For this reason, we contacted Mr. Kaiser from Kaiser & Tappe GmbH to obtain further information about a defibrillator. After an initial discussion and a suitable location was checked and agreed upon, we decided on an "Automatic External Defibrillator" (AED).
On February 4, 2020, 25 employees were instructed and trained in the use of a defibrillator. First, the training manager, Mr. Kaiser, played a video in which facts were presented and how to use an AED was explained. The participants then practiced resuscitation with the defibrillator on a first aid dummy and questions were answered.
After the training, the wall bracket with the defibrillator was installed immediately. Above it is a wall communication board, which explains the rescue chain and how to perform resuscitation.
Of course, we hope that we don't need the defibrillator and if we do, we can save lives!
