Climate change threatens, among other things, our prosperity and our jobs. The SEGLER trainees therefore gathered information in a workshop and developed ideas to reduce resource consumption at home and in their company.

At the invitation of the management, Fabian Schaper, youth secretary of IG Metall Osnabrück, prepared and conducted a workshop on climate change at SEGLER. All trainees were very interested in the topic and participation was correspondingly high.

First, the focus was on facts about climate change. What are the causes of climate change? What interactions and dependencies exist in nature? How are we humans affected? And who are the main culprits in carbon dioxide emissions? Most people were astonished by how large the share of western industrial nations is. Especially in comparison to the size of the population.

Afterwards, possibilities for influencing the climate were discussed at various levels and ideas were collected to limit climate change. Each individual has set personal goals and will reduce their carbon footprint. In addition, ideas were developed together to improve resource consumption at SEGLER.

After the workshop, Fabian Schaper had to quickly return to Osnabrück to give a speech at Fridays for Future. SEGLER wishes him continued persuasiveness and thanks him for a successful workshop. The trainees' ideas will be further fleshed out and implemented by the JAV and management in the near future. There is a lot to do, let's get to it!
