On September 30, 2026, the Service center for industrial transformation in the regions The award was presented for the first time in Leipzig. The SEGLER-Förderanlagen Maschinenfabrik GmbH from Heilbronn Berge is one of the three companies from all over Germany that have been awarded this prize.
Practical price for climate-friendly industry: What matters is implementation
The service center works on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy. With the Praxispreis, it honors companies that implement climate protection in industry in an easy, economical, and effective way. No concepts on paper were sought; rather, tried-and-tested measures with demonstrable effects were sought. The message is clear: The first step does not have to be perfect. It must be done.
The award ceremony took place as part of the 2nd annual conference „Climate-friendly industry: step by step“ at the Media Campus Villa Ida. SEGLER In addition, the Ferro Duo GmbH from Duisburg and the Reichenbacher Wurstfabrik Walter Schaller from the Vogtland were honored.
For his SEGLER part, operations manager Thorsten von der Heyde accepted the award in Leipzig. In addition, he represented our company in the panel discussion at the annual conference. Exchange and networking are important to us, especially when it comes to the transformation of industry.
Our energy hub: waste heat, solar power and battery storage
Our integrated energy concept at the site was awarded the prize Berge. We utilize waste heat, generate solar power with a photovoltaic system with 3MWp and store it in a battery storage system with 1MW. The expansion of the storage system to 5MW is already approved. The result: Our electricity consumption has decreased by a third.
As ours Energy hub for the Osnabrück North District We have been following the development of this project here on the blog. New services have grown out of the project, such as the SEGLER Loading park at Friedrich Segler-Straße. So we turn energy that we generate ourselves into an offer for the people in the region. With this concept, we pave the way to net-zero emissions.
Sustainability is SEGLER part of everyday life
The price for the practice is in line with what we implement in many places. In our solar park, we take on Sheep the green area Instead of lawn mowers and hedge trimmers. With the EU research project on grass protein We are developing methods for the food of the future.
Support for Berge and the region
For us, the price is a confirmation of our work and our plans for the region. It encourages us to move even further. For over 100 years, we have been bringing SEGLER movement to the process industry. Today, we show that a machine builder from the Osnabrück North district can take control of its own energy supply.
Sustainability is important. It must be pursued further, especially in economically difficult times like the one Germany is currently experiencing. A third less electricity consumption means climate protection and lower costs at the same time. We are consistently pursuing this path.
