Energy that we generate ourselves. For over 100 years, we have been bringing SEGLER movement to the process industry. To do this, we need energy, and we now generate that ourselves: Our site in Berge is energy self-sufficient.
Our site on Friedrichstraße in Berge Segler Berlin consists of four components: the solar park provides the electricity, the battery storage facility stores it, the charging park and the Green IT Hub use it directly on site. In addition, we use the waste heat from our production processes to further reduce our energy consumption. This reduces our overall electricity consumption by a third, which is good for the climate and at the same time lowers our costs.
For us, this is not a side project. It is the foundation for how we want to run our machine factory in the coming years, and our path to net zero emissions.

Whether a booster screw, screw shaft, screw blade or complete system: What we manufacture for you is generated Berge using self-generated solar power. This also pays off for you.

PV park with 3 MWp
Our open-air facility is located right next to the production halls. The electricity therefore travels short distances: it flows into the production, the battery storage system, the charging park, and the Green IT Hub.

Battery storage systems
The storage system stores the solar electricity that we don’t currently need and releases it when the system produces little power. In this way, we can use more of our own electricity. The storage system is in operation with a capacity of 1 MWh since 2025. By 2030, it is expected to grow to 5 MWh.
Green IT Hub
The Green IT Hub is our own data center, powered by affordable solar power from our own site and connected directly to the internet and the electricity grid. Customers and companies from the region can rent computing power here or build their own servers and IT infrastructure with us using the hybrid model.

From energy we generate ourselves, we have created an offer for the people in the region. Since March 2026, electric car drivers have been able to charge their vehicles using solar power from their own photovoltaic system, backed up by our battery storage system.
- 0.25 € per kWh gross, excluding a basic fee and without roaming charges
- 4 public DC charging points with 200 kW: from 0 to 80 percent in about 20 minutes
- 13 more AC charging points for our employees, who can charge their electric car for SEGLER free
- Charging chip and app, billing monthly via SEPA
Awarded the Praxispreis
On September 30, 2026, the Service Center for Industrial Transformation in the Regions awarded our energy concept in Leipzig with the practical prize „Climate-Friendly Industry: Just do it.“.
The service center works on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy. SEGLER It is one of three award-winning companies from all over Germany.
To the postOur path
- From 2015: Switching the lighting to LED, manufacturing your own filament and using the compressor waste heat
- 2019: New construction of production halls with roof insulation, heat recovery, photovoltaic panels on the roof and LED lighting
- 2025: PV off-grid system with 3 MWp and battery storage with 1 MWh goes into operation
- March 2026: The fast-charging park goes into regular operation after one month of testing.
- September 2026: Practical price: „Climate-friendly industry: Just do it.“
- By 2030: Expansion of the battery storage system to 5 MWh
