It's always a special moment when things get a little busier than usual in our halls and fresh faces look curiously behind the scenes. Today, Tuesday, November 25, 2025, as part of the career orientation week, we had the pleasure of welcoming 8th and 9th grade students from the Oberschule am Sonnenberg from Berge with us.
Together with their teacher, Mr. Stuckmann, the young people wanted to find out: What will the working world of tomorrow actually look like in practice?
Our Operations Manager Torsten von der Heyde gave the starting signal. He welcomed the group and immediately gave an exciting overview of the diverse Training opportunities, that SEGLER offers. Because we are not just looking for employees, we are looking for co-creators. Our core training professions were presented:
- Precision Mechanic (m/f/d)
- Metal worker (m/f/d)
- IT Specialist (m/f/d)
- Technical Product Designer (m/f/d)
Practice up close
Theory is good, practice is better. That's why, after the introduction, we went straight through the company in small groups. Our apprentice representatives Noah Schröder and Alexander Nowack as well as Simon Landwehr from the design department took the visitors on a journey through the various departments.
There was a real „aha moment“ here: during the tour, the students spotted some familiar faces in the middle of the action. They were former graduates of the Oberschule am Sonnenberg who are now doing their apprenticeships at SEGLER. Great proof of how short and direct the path from school to a career with us is!
Thinking outside the box
There were particularly big eyes when it came to internships abroad. We explained to the students that training in the skilled trades and industry can be international today. In cooperation with the HWK Osnabrück, SEGLER offers its trainees the chance to gain professional experience abroad - an opportunity that many did not have on their radar and which generated a lot of enthusiasm.
At the end of the day, everyone came together again for a final discussion. The students, Mr. Stuckmann and our team were able to review their impressions and clarify any final questions over a few goodies.
Why are we doing this?
At SEGLER, promoting young talent is not just an empty phrase, but a matter close to our hearts. We are convinced that investing in young people is investing in the future. We want to show young people from the region what exciting high-tech jobs are right on their doorstep and get them excited about technology and skilled trades.
We would like to thank the Oberschule am Sonnenberg for their great interest and the fantastic visit and are already looking forward to welcoming one or two of them as new trainees to #TeamSEGLER soon!
